Each course counts towards the TTouch Companion Animal Practitioner Training Programme and is open to first-timers and those already on the programme.
The trainings will be held at Houghall Campus at East Durham College. The venue has a very flexible space with a large training room plus multiple break-out classrooms for small group working, three separate secure outdoor areas plus a large adjoining field. There are also basic kitchen facilities.
Participants will have the opportunity to work with resident reptiles (including snakes, lizards and tortoises) and small animals (including rabbits, rats and guinea pigs) on this training.
There is ample free parking next to the venue, as well as a block of large kennels on site, which will be available to us in case any dogs need somewhere to take a break away from cars.
The trainings will run from 9am-5pm each day, finishing at 4pm on the final day.
Note: You need to complete four 5-day trainings, eight 3-day trainings or an equivalent combination, plus complete case studies, to become a TTouch Apprentice and a total of six 5-day trainings or twelve 3-day trainings to become a Practitioner 1.
The campus is located just off the A1(M) outside Durham with open woodland immediately behind the venue for your dog walks. There are two caravan/camping sites within 5 miles of the venue (Durham Grange and Strawberry Hill Farm) and plenty of dog friendly accommodation in the area: https://www.thisisdurham.com/dog-friendly/accommodation. Durham is also on the main East Coast rail route and easily accessible from Newcastle Airport.
